Not your Father's Scale Test Car
Wearing the eye catching orange paint typically found in MoW cars, this former Pullman Standard 4 bay covered hopper has been reclassified to another use. No longer carrying product needing protection from the weather, this particular covered hopper will now serve as a special purpose car used to calibrate scales found along the CSX system and at their various hump yards. Today it's going back to Atlanta in Q678 as it rolls through Opelika. While this car is a rare sight to see, it is not the only one that CSX has converted. Other Pullman Standard built 4 bay covered hoppers have also been assigned to this same type of service so there is a chance you can catch some of these orange beauties trackside.
