BN 5519 leads a mix of vintage EMDs on a northbound freight at Reservation Tower in Tacoma, WA on a somewhat dreary February day in 1979. Taken from the embankment of the Milwaukee Road overpass, this location is where the Union Pacific and BN begin shared track to Portland. Back in 1979, the UP actually had their own Tacoma yard and another connection with the BN near Union Station. They could connect in either location. The downtown connection is long gone now.
