I had the rare and distinct honor of photographing the AEM-7 Farewell Excursion photo op from the head end. The engineer tugs at the whistle cord to sound the horn as we proceed into the MARC station at Halethorpe for photo op. AEM-7s are the last major locomotive fleet in service to feature a pull cord horn valve, as most modern locomotives have electronic push buttons that don't offer as much control to the engineer in how the horns are sounded. A video montage of the final run is on the Amtrak official youtube channel for anyone interested in seeing more from this day.
