Red Demonstrator

Following extensive tests on the Aberdeen & Carolina Western during the summer of 2008 (with a pair of former SP SD45T-2s), Caterpillar-powered Progress Rail Service GenSet 2002 rests in the morning sun on October 16, 2008, as it awaits a pickup by the CSX. This "interesting-looking" engine was originally Chesapeake & Ohio GP38 3867. With the merger of the Chessie System (to which the C&O was a part) with Seaboard System to form CSX, this locomotive became CSXT 2067. The CSX eventually sold it to the Bangor & Aroostook, as their 301. The BAR unloaded it to Helm Leasing, which numbered it HLCX 3369. It was then acquired by Caterpillar's Progressive Rail and rebuilt as Cat powered PR22B Genset in 2008.
