New York & Long Branch conductor Richard Morgan fills out his timesheet in his caboose at the end of a long day on the job.
In reality, model Richard Morgan poses with original NY&LB paperwork (supplied by Greg Lacko) in the Tri-State Railway Historical Society's restored Lackawanna caboose #896 after a three-hour staged exterior night photo shoot. While the lights outside were being taken down, I asked if I could borrow Rich for "another 8 seconds." I lit the car's original oil lamp over the desk and held a lit kerosene lantern in front of the stove to the left of the camera to mimic the flame of a lit caboose stove. This photo was the result, using only those two authentic light sources.
