| Westbound double stacks contend with the stiff 1.4% continuous grade on the climb out of Needles, CA and the Colorado River Valley at Java on BNSF's Needles Subdivision. The arduous & continuous pull up to the summit at Goffs is still roughly 20 miles to the west but mechanical issues would stall the westbound Q train at Ibis requiring the assistance of helpers based out of Needles. |
