        Remarks & Notes
Meet me at Walonger… Lumbering up the western slope of the Tehachapi Pass a lumber heavy QRVWCB circles the famous Tehachapi Loop at Walong moments from meeting BNSF's westbound Z WSPNBY. Work to link the siding at Walong (4800') with the siding at Marcel (6189') began in 2015 and after a year of work the new stretch of double track railroad has recently been placed in service. While the relatively short sidings at Walong and Marcel were once a match for trains plying the rails over the Tehachapis the size of many of the trains regularly running the mountain today, including both those pictured, rendered them moot and taking away siding space between the end of double track at Cable and the 8960' siding at Woodford. While the new stretch of double track has changed the landscape on Tehachapi is has brought with it a new efficiency that will keep trains moving smoothly over one of American's most fabled railroad routes.
