    Remarks & Notes
Rock Island F9M 4161 and GP9 1319 idle at Rock Island's Inver Grove Yard engine facility in South St. Paul. The F unit was originally built as an F3 for Union Pacific, and later upgraded to an F9 before being sold to Rock Island. Rock Island ran south from the Twin Cities all the way to Galveston, TX before its break up in 1980.
