CHEYENNE WY Oct-Nov 1971 -- My first real trip taking pictures of trains included a visit to my sister in Cheyenne. I was using an Argus rangefinder and handheld light meter both of which I had recently purchased used. When I got to the roundhouse area I didn't have a clue what I was seeing. I didn't even know what UP 18 was till I got back and asked my fellow railfans. UP 18 is preserved at the Illinois Railroad Museum. Absolutely no one noticed me or my wife waiting patiently in the car. If only I had had the knowledge of what was going on to the west and Sherman Hill. Oh well.
