A northbound Oregon Trunk grain empty is on the high bridge over Willow Creek, just outside Madras, and soon will begin the long descent to the Deschutes River down Trout Creek Canyon. It's destination, Wishram, Washington is still 106 miles ahead. The large horizontal tube near the base of the trestle carries an irrigation canal.
The Oregon Trunk, the route most well known for the Deschutes Railroad War, still sees BNSF-and at times detouring UP-traffic today. This album covers all images taken along the line between Celilo and Chemult, Oregon.
