| The call of the wide open spaces was pretty strong today so I went east from my home about 65 miles to the Bonanza Power Plant in eastern Utah. I can not begin to describe how crystal clear the winter air was today. Combined with the low sun it made for wonderful photographic weather. I drove up onto a low mesa south of the Deseret Power Ry’s tracks and waited for the eastbound empty coal train to appear. After a half hour or so, it flashed across my viewfinder on its way back to the Deserado Mine in Colorado and I got this shot. I absolutely love this high, barren and nearly uninhabited landscape. It’s a long way from a big city out here and that’s why I like it so much. |
