| "Northern Explorer" known by railfans and railworkers as "Dora" makes a passenger stop at Papakura with most of the 680Km/ 420 mile journey to Wellington ahead. The train was built by Hillside, Dunedin and entered service in 2012. Virtually identical trains run in South Island also. The DF class loco entered service in 1979 and was rebuilt in 1990s. |
