LAMAR CO June 17 1979 — As a flock of birds flies overhead (upper left) U28CG 7901and U23C 7530 roll toward the center of town. Santa Fe purchased 10 U28CGs for passenger and freight service. They were relegated to only freight service and lost their steam generators when Amtrak took over. A total of 20 U23Cs was purchased.
