Here's my obligatory end of 2016 photo.

Daylight freights are hard to come by this time of year account the tracks between Anchorage and Whittier see an average of only two round trip freight turns per week, and with only 4 1/2 hrs of daylight this time of year the odds do not favor the railfan photographer. But on the final day of the year, I got lucky and managed to catch this short northbound freight with containers from Whittier destined to Anchorage. Here we are along Turnagain Arm about 30 miles south of their destination in the big city at 2:45 PM on December 31.
