The Pittsburg & Shawmut’s daily train from Brookville to Mahoning, Pennsylvania sometimes could be loaded or empty hoppers, depending on the varied needs and production of the mines along the line. And then there were the days where the crew left Brookville as a caboose hop, somewhat limiting the ability to capture some of the expansive scenes that were to be had along the railroad. Such was the case when two SW9’s and a GP10 came across the huge trestle at Sprankle Mills on a gray winter day in 1982.
