After an overnight dusting of snow, the Pittsburg & Shawmut’s turn from Brookville shakes the thin layer of powder off the deck of the 1430-foot Sprankle Mills trestle. Four SW9’s and a long train indicate that business is good in this 1982 view. The fortunes of the coal industry along the line would soon begin to change, and this section of the P&S main would be ripped up and rail-banked. The trestle still stands, but it is highly unlikely that the rails will ever be replaced.
