The CN haulage trains that ran over the BN in the 90's featured some interesting power for me as a young kid. Didn't see alot of Canadian power til these trains started running. Here the westbound 349 train has a really unusual leader, HR616.
The HR616 was a 3,000 horse Alco built in 1982 and the CN got 20 of them numbered 2100–2119. These motors were some of the 1st CN designed “Draper Taper” cowl car bodies. Also the 2119 was the first unit to feature a desktop style control stand. The locomotives were retired from CN’s fleet in mid 90's after a lot of mechanical problems.
