A heavy Belen, NM to Phoenix, AZ manifest train fights gravity as it slowly moves over the eastern slope of the Arizona Divide on the first day of March, 2017. As the sun fades behind the horizon, the four locomotives moving this train will battle the grade for another hour, or so, till they reach the summit of the divide; some 7,300 feet above sea level. From there, it will be steep downhill grade of combination of high speed, double track mainline and track warrant control territory till the train reaches Phoenix.
