| A RARE FIND! While scouting photo locations for an up-coming excursion, I happened upon a gem! N&W GP9 514. One of the 22 "Red Bird" GP9's built in 1957-1958 to replace the Class J's on N&W passenger trains. In rough shape but still operational, she was in local switching service in Rocky Mount, VA. The only surviving member of this group is #521 in the Roanoke Transportation Museum. |
