On a crisp winter afternoon, Amtrak F40PH 211 and the standard NEC Amfleet consist rattles the 1892 station at Canton Junction, MA, with a southbound train out of Boston. The scene is very different today because in 2000 this station was lifted up and moved back to make room for a track reconfiguration and high level platforms.
Once treated like a backwater with decrepit locomotives, cars and track, Massachusetts has become a star in the Amtrak constellation with electrification to Boston, service to Maine and an upgraded Connecticut Valley line.
