A patched SP SD45 was rebuilt by the SP as SD40m-2, no doubt one of the last remaining SP SD40M-2 locomotives on the UP roster. The T-2's remained a while longer but the SD40M-2 were rare on the UP Sunset Route. This engine was repainted in armour yellow by the UP in early 2007 and remained active. I am not sure of the current status.
