Bringing up the rear of the North Coast Hiawatha at North La Crosse, former Denver Zephyr dome obs Silver Veranda adds a touch of class to the rear of the train. It provides the only visual evidence that this is Amtrak with the dual tail signs. The car is still lettered Burlington. For awhile Amtrak offered parlor seating in this car for an extra fare on this train.
The Empire Builder crosses the state on its way to St. Paul, Seattle and Portland. The Hiawatha Corridor between Milwaukee and Chicago is one of Amtrak's busiest routes.
