The NXGen Rail Geometry Train works it was south along the Houston Subdivision. NXGen is one of a few private rail & roadbed inspection companies in the industry.
From what I have witnessed on a few different railroads, first the railroad inspects their trackage with their track geometry equipment. Then an independent firm such as NXGen checks the route, and finally the FRA/DOT checks the route.
