Amtrak's small but powerful AEM-7 electrics were such a dominant presence on the Northeast Corridor for more than thirty years that I find it difficult to think of them as a vanished breed. A pair of them led a Washington-bound corridor train through Stratford, CT, on an autumn afternoon.
