| Another of the O.S. Nock 6 x 6cm negatives bought at auction. This view is of C61 20, one of 33 Baltics built in 1947-49 utilising boilers taken from D51 class 2-8-2s. At the time Japan had more heavy freight engines than it needed but was short on express passenger power. This particular loco entered service in July 1949 and was retired in November 1973. After spending many years in Kezoji Park at Isezaki it was restored to working order in 2011 and been a main line performer in recent years. |
