The operator at Penn Central's Mansfield (MA) tower is no doubt recording on his train sheet the passage of this Boston-Providence commuter train headed up by an ex-PRR E8. The wooden tower of New Haven RR ancestry vanished a few years later as Amtrak began its modernization of the Northeast Corridor..
