A reminder of the glory days of railroading, N&W 2156 sits on static display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. The big articulated "Mallet" was built in the N&W Roanoke Shops to transport heavy coal trains out of Appalachia. A look inside the cab shows just how complicated these great machines were to run.
