Summit of the Alleghanies

A westbound Baltimore & Ohio train of empty hoppers approaches the crest of seventeen mile grade at Altamont Maryland. There is a sign just west of there proclaiming the location as “Summit of the Alleghanies”. SD60 Demonstrator EMD-4 has a B&O SD50 and GP9 to help reach the summit.
