When most people think of the Gas Local and hills, they think Evaro Hill, the long, winding, steep grade just to the west of Desmet. Not often photographed however, is the real beginning of Evaro Hill just before Desmet, a steep climb straight uphill just before entering the 10th Sub. While it may not get much recognition, this is a neat place to see the local start notching out as they climb the grade towards Evaro. Also in the background is a classic NP signal bridge.
