It was appropriate that BNSF 2076 should lead a short local from Bend, OR to Madras over the Spokane, Portland & Seattle's most famous bridge over the Crooked River. BNSF 2076 was part of the first order of locomotives delivered to BN in March 1970 in BN green. The unit was part of a small order of GP38s built in February 1970 for the SP&S. They came out of La Grange in BN green with BN lettering and numbers.
The Oregon Trunk, the route most well known for the Deschutes Railroad War, still sees BNSF-and at times detouring UP-traffic today. This album covers all images taken along the line between Celilo and Chemult, Oregon.
