Westbound S697 passes through the Pikeville Cut Through, a man-made river and railroad reroute away from downtown Pikeville. Daily freight has just returned to this stretch of railroad in the past week, and is for sure a welcome sight for an almost dead stretch of railroad.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
