    Remarks & Notes
When NYC night trains #202 and #207 between Detroit and Mackinaw City were discontinued they were replaced by Budd RDC 3 cars which ran in the daytime. Here we see the morning Bee Liner about to leave Mackinaw City. Since there was no provision for dining on the Budd cars, the conductor would take orders from passengers for box lunches. He'd wire ahead with the number required. The lunches would be prepared and waiting by the time the RDC 3 arrived in Bay City.

The Central's Great Steel Fleet fielded such famous trains as the Twentieth Century Limited and Empire State Express. The railroad also had extensive commuter service in New York and Boston and served travelers along numerous branch lines.
