| Chama is a time capsule - particularly in the morning when the smell of hot cylinder oil and coal smoke is in the air and the engines are being prepared for another day of work. It's a credit to the C&TS that they keep #463 - built in 1903 and much older than the workhorse K-36 class - not just operational but in regular tourist season service. She needs some help up the 4% grade to Cumbres Pass, though, and 487 would do the honors today. |
