Between 1984 and 1988, the Cape Cod & Hyannis Railroad operated seasonal passenger service between a suburban Boston rapid transit stop (Braintree, MA) and Hyannis, using a pair of ex-New Haven GP9s and assorted secondhand passenger cars. CC&H GP9 7280 led a Braintree-Hyannis train towards the Cape at Wareham, MA, on an August morning. The service ended when a state subsidy was not renewed for the 1989 season.
