Three Union Pacific EMD GP30Bs are stored at Council Bluffs, Iowa, in May of 1984. Only 40 of these unique locomotives were built, all for UP. Middle locomotive No. 731B is one of eight units equipped with steam generators for passenger service—rooftop vents are still clearly visible on the front end.
