    Remarks & Notes
Union Pacific’s unique rail detector car DC-3 smokes it up a bit at is excellerates while inspecting UP’s Kearney Subdivision main line in July 1981. This car was originally built in 1928 as a Brill Model 350 motor car for Detroit & Mackinac and sold to Teledetector Inc. in 1952, where it was converted to a detector car. The car was then sold to UP in April 1954 and eventually numbered DC-3. It was rebuilt twice, in 1961 and 1981—with the final version having added sloped front AND rear windows. The car was retired in December 1986 and sold for scrap.
