Its just another day at the office for the engineer of AMTK 507 as he brings Amtrak 1790 south toward Point Conception on a beautiful afternoon along the ex-Southern Pacific coast line. This view, which almost gives the illusion that the photographer is hanging off the locomotive's rear handrails, is actually from the vestibule of the private car "Silver Splendor" as it makes a round trip to San Luis Obispo and return.
A compilation of my favorite photographs taken from a slightly different point of view, images that catch your eye right from the thumbnail. These aren't your typical 3/4 wedgie aim & shoot pix, but well executed compositions, truly works of art.
