    Remarks & Notes
While I have taken more than a few shots from this location of passenger trains this is the first freight I have managed to catch crossing one of the most iconic bridges on the Alaska RR. And it almost didn't happen as I nearly became a victim of circumstance. The crew had tied this train down in the siding at Hurricane and then had dead head to Talkeetna 70 miles away for their rest. Crew was on duty at 0800 the next day and I figured we could easily hike into our location ahead of the train. So we had a leisurely breakfast, watched the crew depart then due to various issues we left 30 minutes behind the crew. In any event to make a long story short we barely got into this spot before the train arrived. When I say we I really mean the other two guys I was with as I showed up when the train was already on the bridge albeit rolling slowly. So what you see is what I got, since this is the company work train he rolled across this bridge with a caboose as well. Sometimes you walk away with one in the win column.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
