When Amfleet equipment came to dominate the Northeast Corridor in the mid-1970s, Amtrak converted a number of baggage cars into HEP generators so that steam-era GG1s could handle the new equipment. Circus-colored 4924 is accompanied by one of those HEP generators as it hums north through Elizabeth, NJ, with a Washington-New York train.
