| This loaded ethanol train is grinding and clawing its way up the Scales Mound Hill. These 2 GE's got down to 5 mph as this work hard to lift this tonnage up the .8% grade between Galena and Scales Mound out of the Mississippi River Valley. Here the train is about mile from the top, and is back up to reasonable speed after getting thru the tough part of the hill. Couple nice farmsteads along the hill in this remote part of northwest Illinois. |
