Reading & Northern No. 3050 leads "the big train" through Molino back to Port Clinton, PA from Jim Thorpe. The railroad, as they have in years past, offers both steam and diesel powered Fall foliage excursions along this route, as well as trains in the Lehigh Gorge, and the shorter shuttle train from Jim Thorpe to the Hometown Trestle. On this Sunday, yet a fourth trip ran from Pottsville to Jim Thorpe and return utilizing two of the railroad's RDC's.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
