The last remnant of Rocky Mountain/Corn Belt Rockets, a month after being demoted to nameless train #7, departs Council Bluffs for the Omaha side of the river. The announced loss of it's primary revenue producer, RPOs, the prior month by the USPS was the stake in the heart of passenger rail across the nation. While some railroads had a openly hostile attitude towards passenger service and customers in this era, the Rock did their best to accommodate the public in the face of devastating losses to their bottom line.
