| Scorched Earth - A westbound Union Pacific manifest train rolls down the grade near CP SP Silverwood on the former Southern Pacific Palmdale Cutoff.
The scorched hillside in the background is the remnants of the Bluecut fire that burned through this area in September of 2016.
Most of this area had not been burned over since 2004, when another wildland blaze took out the coastal chaparral ground cover that is so prevalent in Southern California. |
