Amtrak 156, the newly extended Northeast Regional that now runs over Blue Ridge grade to Roanoke, flies east through Bedford, VA on a crisp fall morning just after Thanksgiving. With Northeast Regional trains, Auto Train and long distance service to Florida, New Orleans and Chicago, a lot of train riding and train watching can be had.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
