The Coast Smokelight. Working back up to track speed, Amtrak's northbound Coast Starlight parallels the coast as it heads north toward Carpinteria under the erie shadow of the Thomas Fire's miles of smoke trailing over the ocean from Ventura. Said to have burned more than 50,000 acres in less than 24 hours with more on the way...this fire is certainly one of Ventura County's fastest moving fires that as of tonight is threatening to close the coast line.
