Freeport Switcher waits at Wallace Yard Freeport with the former Illinois Central offices in the background. At one time Freeport was a major junction. In addition to the Chicago to Iowa line Freeport was the Northern end of the "Gruber" line through central Illinois as well as the start of a branch to Madison. Wisconsi.
