After being uncouple from it's train, the power of NS 131 (Knoxville,TN-Chattanooga,TN) is now entering the Chattanooga Diesel Shop Limited under permission of the locomotive dispatcher, and the power will continue the shove move to the stop sign, where the inbound crew will detrain, and get a taxi to the wash room, and then on to the hotel. NS 8105 the Interstate Heritage Unit is sporting it's retro the orange, silver, and cream paint scheme which has gain a little bit of road grime overtimes since it's debut in revenue service. The Interstate had it's humble beginning in 1896 by the Virginia Coal & Iron Company to haul soft, bituminous coal from mines located near Stonega (operated by VC&I subsidiary, Stonega Coke & Coal Company) to Appalachia. By 1965 the Interstate Railroad was absorb for the Southern Railway, but the name Interstate was still in existed but on paper. Following the creation of Norfolk Southern during 1982 the IRR disappeared officially on October 31, 1985 as the new company began consolidating its subsidiaries.
