| Between 1971 and 1973 the South African Railways added 125 of these locomotives to their growing diesel fleet. Built by General Electric as GE U26C, the first three in the class were imported and the remaining 122 were built in South Africa by South African General Electric-Dorman Long Locomotive Group (SA GE-DL, later Dorbyl). 34-101 is pictured here having some workshop time at the Bloemfontein Locomotive Depot. |
