    Remarks & Notes
The NKP 8100 is the third heritage unit to come to the Chesapeake Western. The hertiage units usually come by way of grain trains but for what ever reason this unit was sent to Harrisonburg to do local switching. The stay for the NKP around the CW only lasted little over month but she was put to good use. It was a treat not only for us railfanners but to the crew as well. Seen here, the crew has just completed their interchange with SVRR at the old Pleasant Valley depot and will head back north to Harrisonburg to switch out some more box cars and the local packaging plant.

Solely the CW Past and Present. July 5, 1895 CW moved its first load of freight and although its existence is merely on paper today, its roots run deep. 130 years and still moving freight. The CW operates as a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern.
