| Amtrak's recent policy change on hauling private cars did not affect the "Fire Up 611's" recent round-trip from DC to Savannah, because the car was added at the beginning of the run or a station with sufficient dwell time. The 611 committee contracted with the Cincinnati Railway Co. to provide the ex-B&O No. 7600 (PPCX 800203) "Moonlight Dome" for tacking onto the rear of Amtrak's "Palmetto." The car seats 24 around its six dome tables, and is a great way to experience the golden age of railroading. |
